Sarah Delaney from Nottingham, took part in Work Australia during her year out before starting university. She found that it gave her the opportunity to do something constructive with her gap year and came home with solid work experience, a bunch of new friends, a fantastic tan and a host of stories to take to university with her.

Australia is a must-see for anyone taking time out. A land of beaches, barbeques and beers, Oz has been attracting a steady stream of backpackers and round the world travellers for years. Australia has it all – cosmopolitan cities, rugged coastlines, incredible wildlife, the Great Barrier Reef, mountain ranges and of course the endless desert of the outback.

New Zealand is often overshadowed by it’s larger and louder neighbour Australia, but this may be what keeps it such as special place! If you are looking for a working holiday destination for a gap year, they don’t come much better than ‘the land of the long white cloud’.
