Wine merchants, or wine retailers, sell a range of alcoholic beverages including, but not necessarily limited to, wines. These beverages are then sold to private and public consumers via licensed premises such as off-licences or directly through mail order channels or the internet.

Store demonstrators work in department stores, shopping centres, supermarkets and other retail businesses, promoting products to increase sales. The variety of products they promote is vast, from things like food and drink samples, to kitchen appliances and gadgets to new perfume samples.

Some store demonstrators are employed full-time by stores or retail chains, and some are freelance and find work through an agency.

A stock control or replenishment assistant is responsible for replacing stock on shelves and display areas when customers have made purchases. They work in supermarkets and other types of retail outlets and may also be referred to as shelf stackers or shelf fillers.

A shopkeeper is an individual who owns and runs a shop. They may manage their own independent store or retail outlet, or they may run a franchise store on behalf of a retail chain.

A roundsperson delivers or sells goods or services to customers at their homes or places of work. They tend to visit the same places, at an appointed time on a regular basis, so that customers expect them, and are able to place an order or make a purchase.

They type of goods they have for sale varies and they normally specialise in a range of items, such as milk and dairy, sandwiches and snacks, household products, books or groceries.

They may deliver their goods by motor vehicle, bicycle or on foot, depending on the size of the area they cover.
