Early Years Teacher

Early years teachers (or nursery school teachers) teach children between the ages of three and five, in nursery schools and reception classes. They develop work schemes and implement lesson plans to meet the requirements of the Early Years Foundation stage of the National Curriculum. The early learning goals of the Foundation Curriculum involve six areas:
Nursery Worker

Nursery workers work with babies and young children, caring for them and helping them to develop and learn. Duties vary but can include:
- feeding babies, changing nappies and preparing bottles or baby food
- encouraging children to develop social, number and language skills
- taking care of children's personal needs
- taking children on outings

- making sure children are safe at all times
- working closely with parents and carers.
Salaries range from £10,000 to £35,000 a year.
Higher Education Lecturer

Higher education (HE) lecturers teach courses leading to Higher National Awards, degrees, and postgraduate and professional qualifications. They may teach academic or vocational subjects. Teaching may be in the form of lectures, seminars and tutorials, practical laboratory demonstrations and fieldwork.

Driving Instructor

The role
Driving Instructors teach people how to drive, primarily in order to be able to pass their driving test. However, they will also be preparing their students for a lifetime of safe driving.
When taking on a new learner, an Instructor will determine the level of knowledge and driving skills that they have.
Sports Coach

The role
Sports coaches help people to fulfil their potential within a sport through training them and teaching techniques.
Sports coaches plan and run training sessions, encouraging their participants, observing them and giving feedback to their performance. If it’s a team sport, they would also work with the players to help them work together. A Sports Coach will also attend competitions with their participants.
Most Sports Coaches work part-time or are volunteers, supplementing another full-time job. Only a few are able to make it a full-time career.
Youth and Community Worker

Youth and Community Workers, as the name suggests, work with young people, and organise activities with the aim of boosting their confidence and helping them to learn new skills.
Working primarily with teenagers, they may act as mentors to young people, offer counselling and organise projects dealing with problems such as bullying. They could facilitate activities relating to sports, drama and other subjects.
Training Manager

Training Managers coordinate and oversee a company’s training programmes. It is their responsibility to ensure that they equip staff with the necessary knowledge and skills needed for their jobs.
A Training Manager identifies the training needs of a company and designs a training plan accordingly. They will work with training providers to develop content within the course.
Further Education Teacher

Further Education, or FE Teachers, usually teach people over 16 years old.
Dance Teacher

The role
Dance Teachers teach their pupils dance in one or many of its different forms, from ballet to tap and jazz. They may teach in state schools, or they may work with private pupils, or in a dance school. Dance Teachers may also teach classes in community centres or leisure centres.
In state schools, dance is usually taught by the class teacher at primary school age. At secondary school, it is often taught by someone who also covers drama or PE as well.
