KENT BUSINESS SCHOOL

In 2009 Kent Business School celebrates 20 years of management education (1989-2009) The School is one of the largest departments within the University of Kent and occupies a purpose-designed building on the wooded campus above the historic city of Canterbury. It is within easy reach of London and Paris or Brussels.

The School is proud of its international, dynamic and research-led learning environment. After several years of development, the School improved dramatically in the 2008 RAE and is now in the top 30 business schools in the UK. 55% of its research is classified as “Top International Quality”.

In 2008, the Accounting & Finance and Business & Administrative Studies programmes were rated 3rd and 10th respectively in the UK for student satisfaction. In addition to an AMBA accredited MBA, the School offers a range of Masters Programmes, an expanding Doctoral Programme with 70 students, and a wide portfolio of Management Development programmes.

The School has an undergraduate population of 1300 students on both the Canterbury and Medway campuses. The School is a member of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) and engages actively with regional, national and international business communities.

Our Staff
At Kent Business School there are 50 full-time teaching faculty of which 43 are research-active. Over the last three years the Business School has made more than 18 senior academic appointments and continues to attract academics of international renown who are passionate about their subject. Coming from 20 different nationalities, their international expertise and their professional networks in countries provide the essential ingredients for a truly international, business education environment.


Our Programmes
Kent Business School offers a range of degree programmes for both postgraduate and undergraduate applicants, some offered as joint honours degrees in conjuction with other University departments such as Computing or Law. Many of the programmes give you an option of spending a year abroad and/or working in industry.

Our Research
Kent Business School has 57 academics of which 43 are research active. After several years of development, the School improved dramatically in the 2008 RAE and is now in the top 30 business schools in the UK with 55% of our research being 3*and 4*.

Research activities at the School are organised into seven major areas within buiness and management and six Centres for Applied Research in specific areas. Much of our research is multidisciplinary, often carried out with researchers from other university faculties and knowledge networks around the world.
