What is it like to study business?

There is a strong argument that everyone needs a business education – whether it is a retail operation or an engineering plant, each organisation needs management, marketing, human resources or finance.

As such business is a practical subject – it can’t be compared with philosophy or chemistry, which have a high level of theory, business is about applying theories to the real world. It teaches you how to predict changes, how to plan for and adapt to them, in other words how to succeed.

How much money will I earn?

According to Prospects Today, the average salary taken from job adverts appearing in their weekly graduate publication between 2003 and 2004 for students who had studied business and management studies was £19,057 – not bad!

Who are the University of Wolverhampton Business School?

The University of Wolverhampton Business School (UWBS) has been teaching since 1931 and is based on two campuses, Compton, just outside of Wolverhampton, and Telford, in Shropshire, attracting over 2,500 students each year from all over the world.

Are UWBS any good?

We are rated as Excellent for Business and Management studies by the Sunday Times Good University Guide (September 2004), proof that we provide a high-quality education.

What sort of support will I get whilst at UWBS?

Alongside flexible timetabling support, you will have academic and administrative support. We can also help you find placements if you opt for a sandwich course and can help you find your first step on the career ladder.

What courses do we offer?

A full range of programmes that, unless stated, can be studied either full-time (3 years - 4 years with optional work placement) or part-time:

BA (Hons):

• Business Management (Can be studied online)

• Business Studies (Full-time, four-year degree only)

• Accounting & Finance Study

• Marketing

• Retail Marketing

• Human Resource Management

• International Business Management

• Business as part of a joint or combined degree

• Business Information Management

• Business Management Top-up (Can be studied online)

HND Business: Two-year, full-time diploma course. Provides advanced entry onto a range of business degrees.

Foundation Degree in Business Management: Two-year, full-time.

Foundation Degree in Project Management: Two-year, part-time. On completion you could top up to the BA (Hons) Project Management.
