Our Training Is Excellent …And We Can Prove It.

As the UK’s leading authority on crash repair, Thatcham Research
Centre have long recognised the need to produce a steady flow of young
skilled vehicle technicians. The demand for these skills from within
the motor industry has never been so great and thanks to Thatcham’s
status as a Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE), in partnership with
East Berkshire College, young and motivated vehicle technicians have a
choice of quality training.
Our
status as a ‘Centre of Vocational Excellence’ recognises the high
standard and quality of training provided by the partnership, which
combines a complete automotive training offer of body, paint,
mechanical and electrical training.
Thatcham has a long standing reputation as a leading provider of skills
training for crash repair technicians. Our apprentice training is
unique because everything we teach uses the latest repair methods,
which we have developed and used in our own research centre. Thatcham
offers a truly focused Advanced Apprenticeship Apprentice Programme to
bring real advantages to young people at the start of their careers, as
well as to their employers.
East Berkshire College is one of the largest further education colleges
in the South East. Its Motor Vehicle department is housed within a
£3.5m Technology Centre, which boasts industry standard facilities such
as a rolling road, autotronics lab and large, well equipped workshops.
The CoVE partnership works closely with business to ensure that
training remains industry relevant and provides individuals from all
backgrounds access to the high quality vocational training that they
need to succeed.

At Thatcham, there are three streams available for apprentice learning,
specialising in either Body Repair (Panel), Body Refinish (Paint) or

East Berkshire College offers both full and part-time courses, taking
you from basic skills to Level 4 - equivalent to the first year of a
degree. Courses run in areas such as motor vehicle repair &
