Nottingham Vet School – A New Breed

The University of Nottingham is famed for excellence and innovation. Our latest ground-breaking development is the establishment of the UK’s 7th Vet School — the first new Veterinary School to open in the UK for 50 years.

You could be among the first to study at our new Vet School, which will provide a progressive, dynamic learning and research environment. We offer an exciting and innovative five-year degree course which is designed with clinical outcomes in mind but draws upon leading-edge teaching methods and the very latest scientific research advances. The course provides learning in all aspects of veterinary medicine and surgery and leads to graduation with a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Bachelor of Veterinary Surgery (BVM and BVS).

We believe that your education needs to be hands-on from the moment you join our course: you will work with patients and clinical case scenarios from day one.  The course itself is integrated and teaching is problem-oriented — this means that you will study systems-based modules each covering all of the common domestic, wildlife and exotic species. Learning is provided within body systems modules (e.g. cardiovascular system), allowing you to gain an overall picture of the body system by integrating more traditional subjects such as anatomy, physiology and normal function. 

As well as using the new purpose-built, state-of-the-art on-site facilities you will also spend time at local clinical practitioners, being taught by University academics: this will allow you to see ‘real-world’ cases and have the widest variety of caseload experience.
