Nottingham Trent University is a large, diverse and vibrant modern university. Its mission is to deliver education and research that shape lives and society. This is backed up by a strong course portfolio designed to meet the needs of both students and industry. Nottingham Trent University is one of the UK’s top universities for graduate employment, and around 97% of graduates gain jobs or go on to further study within six months of completing their course.
What we offer
Nottingham Trent University is divided into ten schools: Nottingham Business School; and Nottingham Law School; and the Schools of Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences; Arts, Communication and Culture; Art and Design; Biomedical and Natural Sciences; Built Environment; Computing and Informatics; Education; and Social Sciences.
The University covers three sites. The largest (City site) is a five-minute walk from the city centre. It boasts one of the tallest structures in Nottingham – the Newton building – as well as more historical landmarks such as Arkwright. The £13 million state-of-the-art Boots Library is found at the heart of the City site.
The self-contained Clifton campus is just four miles from the city, connected by a good bus route. In addition to modern teaching facilities, student accommodation, and on-site shops and eateries, it boasts a new multimillion pound sports hall, a brand new gym, and an all-weather floodlit sports pitch.
The Brackenhurst campus, approximately 14 miles from the city, is a 200-hectare estate consisting of a commercial farm, equestrian centre, specialist teaching units, landscaped gardens and a lake. University residences are available on site, and students have their own facilities such as a library, dining room, café and bar, gym and multi-purpose sports surface.
Out and about
Nottingham is a lively city with many theatres, museums, cinemas, clubs, cafés and bars. It also hosts some of the top sporting venues in the UK, such as Trent Bridge cricket ground, the National Watersports Centre at Holme Pierrepont, and the National Ice Centre.
Within the university, there are more than 60 clubs and societies run by the Students’ Union, covering sport, religion, politics, the arts and more. On-campus facilities include gyms run by qualified instructors, Students’ Union bars and extensive sporting facilities. The Bonington Gallery, located in the School of Art and Design, is one of the premier contemporary art spaces in the Midlands.
Welfare
Professional and practical support services are available to all students. These include health centres, a student handbook, financial support, a counselling service and chaplaincy. Specialist support is provided for international and mature students and for those with disabilities.
Where you live
All first-year students are guaranteed an offer of university-allocated accommodation, subject to the University’s standard terms and conditions. There are approximately 3,400 places in total and university residences can be found on all three campuses and across the city. A range of self-catering accommodation is available, offering en suite or shared bathroom facilities for standard, large or standard-plus quality rooms. In addition, large private purpose-built complexes or property conversions available to students are now commonplace in the city.
