If you are interested in cosmetics, make-up and beauty products and the creative applications of science, you should consider following a degree in Cosmetic Science at London College of Fashion.


BSc (Hons) Cosmetic Science has been developed in close collaboration with industry and professional bodies in order to give graduates the skills needed to succeed within this booming business. This course is an ideal route if you wish to start your career as a formulating scientist, although you will be equipped to pursue a variety of careers in the cosmetic, toiletry and perfumery sectors. You could even decide to follow a career in research and development or product manufacturing or work in marketing or technical sales.


This unique four-year degree is a full-time sandwich course, which means that it gives you the option of spending your third year on an industrial placement. The completion of this year in industry is encouraged as you will put your knowledge and skills into perspective and gain invaluable professional experience. London College of Fashion draws upon extensive contacts within the areas of cosmetics, toiletries, and perfumery and can offer you a work placement in the sector that is right for you. Our current students are enjoying placements at NatMed, Proctor and Gamble, BodyShop International Plc, Jo Malone, Croda Chemicals Europe Ltd, Superdrug, Coty UK Ltd, E C De Witt & Company Limited, Acheson and Acheson and Essential Care among others.

The programme particularly focuses on cosmetic product formulation, including research, development, and marketing. As well as encouraging your creativity, this applied science course will provide you with in-depth scientific knowledge to create new products, plus an insight into the nature of the consumer and characteristics of this billion pound industry.
