Why choose a career in health and social care?
There are so many different career choices in health and social care - from those which require a good scientific base such as a biomedical scientist, those that require quick decision making and a high level of technical skill such as paramedic practice and critical care nursing to those that require you to work with particular client groups to enable individuals to reach their full potential such as occupational therapy and social work. The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at Coventry University offers an extensive range of qualifications that can lead you to become a registered health and/or social care practitioner. Whether you have two A levels or equivalent, five GCSEs or a degree qualification there is something on offer for you. You can chose from the following:-

within the university and in practice. This way you learn to apply
theory to practice and to practice your skills so that by the end pf
the course you have achieved the necessary competencies for practice.
We have very well equipped facilities to enable you to develop a broad
range of skills prior to you going out into practice. These facilities

whom have experience of research within their specialised area and
others who have up to date and relevant experience of practice. All of
them will have undertaken further study to develop their teaching and
assessment skills. In practice you will be well supported by having
trained mentors to develop your practice skills and you will be visited
buy staff from the university to ensure that you are making good
progress.

to have contact with other students and your tutors in the university
via web groups and email while you are on placement. One of the key
features of the health and social care courses at Coventry University
is that you will have opportunities to learn with, from and about other
health and social care professions. Effective inter-professional
practice leads to good patient/client care hence why we spend time on
developing your skills to work alongside and with other professions.
