There’s more than one way to the top at PricewaterhouseCoopers

As a new term kicks off, and exams loom just around the corner, you may be starting to think about the different options that will be available to you after A Levels (or equivalent). At PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) we have a range of exciting opportunities from Accounting Technician programmes to Gap Year Programmes, and we are looking to recruit talented young people – like you - to join us in 2005.

Well, PwC is one of the world’s largest professional services organisations and our 120,000 people around the globe help organisations - businesses, charities and even governments - measure their financial performance and improve the way they work. This could involve conducting audits of their company results, giving them tax advice, or pointers on how to manage their risks more effectively. We work with a wide variety of clients, so you could find yourself working with a Premiership football club, a top fashion house or even a music TV channel.

The Gap Year Programme on the other hand is perfect for students who are planning on taking a year out before university and want to gain some valuable work experience during this time. Our seven-month placement runs from September to March and students are given real work and real responsibilities – a great way to develop their business and interpersonal skills for the future. Students who impress us during their placement will be rewarded with a Scholarship of £1,500 each year at university and paid work experience during vacations. It really is the beginning of a long-term relationship between PwC and you, and who knows you could be one of our future graduate recruits! That’s enough reason to make PwC part of your Gap Year adventure.

If you would like to find out more about PwC and the career opportunities on offer, why not attend one of our Open Days for Year 12 & 13 students. Visit our website www.pwc.com/uk/careers/ to find out when the next Open Day is taking place near you and to book your place.

To apply for any of our programmes you should be aiming to achieve 280 UCAS points in 3 or more A’ levels (or equivalent). This can be in any subject, excluding General or Modern Studies. You should also have excellent communication skills, be a real team player, have plenty of drive and commitment and be focussed on success. Apply on line via our website or call us on 0808 100 1500 and our recruitment team will be happy to help.

At school I studied Economics, German and Business Studies for A Level. Whilst studying towards my exams I decided that I wanted to pursue a career in accountancy and become a Chartered Accountant, instead of going to university. The Trainee Accounting Technician role that PwC offers provides the ideal opportunity to train towards the AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualification with a path to progress onto Chartered Accountancy. It really appealed to me as it meant I could study towards an accounting qualification, whilst working and earning a good salary. Since joining PwC I have worked on a range of clients throughout the North of England (no two days are the same!) and have also spent days at college where I study towards my exams, for which PwC fully support me by providing paid study leave and pass bonuses. I’m looking forward to qualifying as an Accounting Technician this year, and moving on the next stage in my career.
