My name is Grahame Astin-Batte and I am originally from Harare, Zimbabwe but now live in Blackpool. I am 21 and have been studying computer science at Lancaster for three years, and am now in my final year. I chose Lancaster to study computer science as it has a really strong IT department which is well known internationally.
The computer science course at Lancaster has a good balance between what we need to know and cutting edge research, which results in an education that not only makes you very employable in industry but gives you a strong foundation for further studies. I have also found the course content to be well balanced with content from a wide range of study areas within computing.
The facilities at Lancaster are excellent, and I know how lucky I am to be a part of such an innovative department with great tutors who give you a lot of support and always have time for you.
Over the years I have found that, although demanding, my course hasn't meant that I did not have time for any thing else. I have worked part time throughout the course and still had time for family and friends and fun!
At Lancaster most students stay on campus, this makes the campus a hive of activity and there is always something going on. There is something for every one.
After graduation I am looking to work in the computing industry or take my studies further and take a masters course and possibly a PHD.
