Flying High with Creative Media

sae002.jpgWhether you are watching the latest digitally animated movie (Finding Nemo, Final Fantasy), using a website on the internet, or playing your favourite computer game, you are doing so because of the efforts and skills of those who work in the exciting and ever growing and creative media industry. The creative media industry has grown to encompass various fields and industries because of the constant change in technology, and is sure to continue to grow and expand along with current and future technology.  This is an exciting industry and just like the ‘behind the scenes’ people who help create movies, music CDs, and television programmes, the people in the creative media industry are an integral part of the team who shape the way we live, work, and play.

SAE’s Creative Media Programmes are designed to cover all necessary aspects of computer-based production techniques and to give students a far-reaching education in the creative media industry. The Creative Media Programmes include topics such as web design, 3D, graphics, and interactive applications. This far-reaching education prepares the students for a wide range of career opportunities within the Creative Media Industry and beyond. SAE offers a 3D Animation Diploma Programme, Creative Media Diploma Programme and a BA (Hons) Multimedia Arts Degree Programme.

sae003.jpgThe 3D Animation Diploma Programme is a 15 month course that enables students to model, animate and render complex computer generated graphics and movies. Individual practical time and experimentation is an essential component of the course. This course aims to provide students with a thorough and flexible education in computer generated motion graphics and visual effects. Students will have a broad, yet focused, understanding and skill-set in all of the main areas related to 3D production. The course also ensures that students will have the necessary skills to continue developing and adapting to the changes in this fast-paced industry. Essential skills and techniques are taught in a creative atmosphere with a strong emphasis on the practical application of design and theoretical concepts.

The Creative Media Diploma Programme is a 15 month course that provides a thorough and flexible education in all aspects of creative media including 2D and 3D animation, web design and CD and DVD authoring. The course content and structure encourage students to learn the theoretical background to the topics covered and to apply this, creatively, to the production process. Students attend two lectures per week, each 3 hours long. In addition to lectures, students are expected to spend at least 10-15 hours weekly at one of our workstations or working on similar equipment at home.

sae004.jpgThe BA (Hons) Multimedia Arts Degree Programme comprises the Creative Media Programme and expands up to degree level. The entire course is 27 months in length which enables students to receive a Bachelors of Arts Degree in less than the typical 3 year period. This Degree is administered and taught by SAE and validated by Middlesex University, England. The aim of this course is to further expand upon the base of knowledge that is introduced as part of the Creative Media Diploma and to broaden the learning experience beyond that which is purely vocational by including a wider, research-based experience of the Humanities in general. Successful graduates will have learned not only the design and technical skills required by the multimedia industry, but also the ability to apply themselves and their ideas, to the creative process.

All of the creative media programmes are structured in such a way to prepare SAE graduates for a variety of careers in the Creative Media Industry including: Graphic Designer, Web Designer, 3D Animator, Video Editor/Animator, Audio Editor, Interactive Designer, Design Consultant, Multimedia Developer, Web Programmer as well as many others.

In addition to the Creative Media Programmes, SAE also offers courses in Audio Engineering, Electronic Music Production, and Digital Film. SAE Institute has three branches in the UK in London, Liverpool and Glasgow.
