Computer Science Gradutaes Are Always in Demand
Computing Science graduates are always in demand - historically, there have always been more computing jobs than computing graduates.
Thinking outside the machine
While a Computing Science degree will teach you a great deal of knowledge and technical skills, you will also develop your capacity to think creatively, logically, and quantitatively.
Communication
Presentations and written assignments will enable you to develop skills and confidence in communicating your ideas.
Planning
Individual project work will help you appreciate the importance of good planning.
Teamwork and Leadership
Group projects will give you experience in co-operation, teamwork and leadership.
Our Degrees
We run three different single honours degrees. All will give you a solid grounding in Computing Science, but differ in the emphasis they place on the various aspects of the subject.
Degrees in Computing Science and Software Engineering teach you skills for developing systems and applications. They have the first two years in common and you can transfer between them. Computing Science students gain extensive knowledge of the principles and theory underpinning the subject, while Software Engineering students specialise in the implementation of large-scale software systems.
Information Systems covers much of the same core material but is more applications-oriented. A third of your time is spent on other subjects such as business, or a modern foreign language, and students who are not very mathematically minded might find this suits them better.
