Be an IT girl at Sheffield Hallam....
Have you ever considered a career in computing or IT but felt put off by the idea that it is a mostly male environment?
More and more women are pursuing excellent careers in computing - an area traditionally seen as a male preserve. IT professionals come from a variety of backgrounds, ages, ethnic groups and gender, and research shows that women in IT are now paid more than ever before in the UK.*
A recent reported on BBC Radio 4's 'Women's Hour', commented how A Level results show girls are now twice as successful as boys in IT. At Sheffield Hallam University many of our computing students are women, who perform equally as well as their male counterparts.
We actively encourage young women to investigate IT opportunities in further education and we are keen to play a part in shaping your future. Our courses have a strong vocational bias - a major asset to any graduate in a competitive job market - and we work closely with employers to plan our courses and meet their needs.
Most of our computing degrees include a sandwich year which is spent on a work placement, and many courses are accredited by professional organisations including the British Computing Society.
Sheffield Hallam University offers a wide range of courses that provide you with the skills and expertise for the best start to your career. The decisions you make now about which course you choose and the University where you study, will affect the rest of your life.
Take a look at the entry details for our IT courses, as you can see being a boy is not a requirement!
