Blog – 21 July - Julia Hind, student at Lord Lawson of Beamish school in Newcastle:
Wow! This filming game is exhausting, but oh so exhilarating! The intricate process of producing our National Lottery funded film about Lottery funding to Good Causes in the North East is underway and the exciting news is that I’ve been appointed Production Manager.
I’m meeting so many brilliantly creative and exciting people on this magical journey as Production Manager, which has taken me to a whole assortment of wonderful locations. I’ve also learnt so many new skills and rules of the industry along the way. I think the most significant rule is: this industry moves fast, and I mean FAST!
6pm on a normal boring Sunday night and I decide to check my e-mails. I pick up the usual junk mail, and odd chain mail from a friend. But what’s this? An unexpected e-mail from my Media teacher telling me that I’ll be going into Dene Films in Newcastle to do pre-production on our short film (after winning The National Lottery Good Causes film competition, Futures in Motion) for the next two days! What?! I’m going to real film studios? It was this moment I suddenly realised this film business is real, and I’m going to be part of it!
