Part 1 - Julia Hind, student at Lord Lawson of Beamish school in Newcastle.

I'm a member of the Lord Lawson team currently creating a National Lottery funded film, showing the effects Lottery grants have had on the regeneration of the North East. However, we did not come upon this amazing opportunity easily. First we had to submit a pitch to First Light with our ideas with a basic outline of what we intended to include such as music, images and themes. From these initial pitches a few schools from around the region were invited to a workshop at the Centre for Life, Newcastle. And we were one of those lucky teams.

Julia HindOn the day of the workshop we had to create a sixty second advert for our school - in only two hours. We brought with us some crazy ideas and some material. There were many people there to help us, from professional filmmakers, editors, and cameramen to National Lottery Good Causes representatives. We met so many exciting people and also learned new skills, which would help if we were to win the competition and get the chance to make a short film.
