Careers
Choosing the right career isn't always so straightforward, but there is a lot of information out there to help you.
Subject choices that you make at school can play an important part in which career you will end up doing. Getting the right advice is crucial in helping you to make the right decisions. Secondary schools offer free careers advice to students as they come towards the end of their time in school. You should see the careers adviser at the school and/or a Connexions Direct Adviser.
Take the time to think about what appeals to you, but also decide which jobs fit in with your talents and strengths. When you decide on your career goals, do your research and find out what you need to do to get there.
Do you need further study at university or college?
Can you get an apprenticeship or on the job training?
The web is packed with sites that will tell you how to get qualified for the career of your choice. When putting together your Curriculum Vitae, a covering letter or an application form for a job, show the employer how your education, work experience and skills make you the right person for the job. Check spelling and grammar and give it to someone else to check it over.
