A good place to look Matthew is the www.medschoolguide.co.uk/careers.htm website. They have links to the professional bodies that represent all the different aspects of working in medicine.

We can't provide information for you re starting your own business, that's not what we're here for but if you take a look at the National Hairdressers’ Federation's (NHF) website http://www.the-nhf.org/Home/Home.asp you may find some help there. :)
