Subject: working in cosmetic industry

This question is from Karen via our career advice section.

careerquestion = I would like to work in the cosmetics industry, but I
can't seem to find a way to apply to some of the leading brands to begin
trainging as a make up artists. I have gone directly to stores ie
selfridges, and even tried calling, but have been unsucessful.
Do you have any advice as to how I mught get started?

The best way to get into the cosmetic industry or becoming a make up artist is to get the right training first. Look at your local FE college prospectus. Most offer NVQ's in Beauty Therapy. Have a chat with your careers advisor and go to college open days. You can usually talk to college lecturers who will guide you to the right course. They are also able to point you in the right direction career wise. :D
