Cristiano Ronaldo Races the Fastest Car on Earth
Submitted by daniel on Tue, 02/02/2010 - 12:28
A new digital campaign from Nike Football showcasing Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo’s phenomenal speed.
Officially launching on www.nikefootball.com, the clip shows Ronaldo testing out the new Nike Mercurial Vapor IV boot, which is specifically designed to improve speed with and without the ball. The viral, which was shot at a secret test track in the North-West, shows Ronaldo in a head to head speed test against the Bugatti Veyron, the world’s most powerful road car.
In the clip, Ronaldo approaches the starting line wearing his new boots preparing to race the fastest road car on earth. The Veyron approaches, the gun sounds and Ronaldo gets off to a blistering start. The pace proves too much for the Bugatti as Ronaldo finishes ahead of the car thanks to a second burst of acceleration by the Portugese winger at the turn around.
Cristiano Ronaldo said: ‘It’s a good sign, for me it’s a privilege to make a video with Bugatti, which is the fastest car. It’s flattering for me because a car that’s this fast is compared to me because I’m fast. It was a good experience which I enjoyed a lot’
‘The thing I most liked was doing the race, seeing the car accelerating with me was great... and obviously winning’
Cristiano Ronaldo wears Nike’s new Mercurial Vapor IV boot. Working closely with its stable of world class players Nike has developed the Mercurial Vapor IV to make the lightest, fastest boot in football. The boot features Nike’s innovative Speed Plate technology designed to assist a player's acceleration making them fastest to, and with, the ball.
