Want to be taught by top cosmetic, toiletries and perfumery experts in the UK? Like to get a feel of the industry while studying? If you are interested in cosmetics, make-up and beauty products and the creative applications of science, you should consider a degree in Cosmetic Science.
The BSc (Hons) Cosmetic Science is the only graduate course in the UK devoted solely to the cosmetics industry. It has been developed in collaboration with industry and professional bodies in order to best suit the needs of the profession. This course is an ideal route if you wish to enter the industry as a formulating scientist, although you will be equipped to pursue a variety of careers in the cosmetic, toiletry and perfumery industry. Graduates may decide to follow a career in research and development or product manufacturing, supported by their awareness of the market structure, or choose a career path in marketing or technical sales.
This unique four-year degree at London College of Fashion is the first in the UK to focus on product development for the cosmetic industry. The programme particularly focuses on cosmetic product formulation, including research, development, and marketing. The course will provide you with in-depth scientific knowledge to create new products, plus an insight into the nature of the consumer and characteristics of the beauty and cosmetics industry.
Your third year is spent in industry, where students have the opportunity to put their knowledge and skills into perspective and acquire ‘hands on’ experience. At London College of Fashion we can draw upon our extensive contacts and offer work placements in the exciting world of the cosmetic, toiletry and perfumery industry.
