Vehicle Sales Executive

A vehicle sales executives sells new or used motor vehicles including cars, motorbikes, vans and trucks, maximising the profit on each unit sold. They are employed by dealerships, large car supermarkets, privately owned operators and independent garages.

A vehicle sales executive is required to identify and show customers vehicles suitable to the customers needs and budget, and to arrange and accompany a test drive. They also need to inform the customer of all the vehicles features, including all available options and extras, accessories and extended warranties. Once a customer decides to make a purchase, the vehicle sales executive is responsible for negotiating on price, processing the order and arranging delivery and registration plates. 

The vehicle sales executive may also have to inspect and approve vehicles that have been brought in for sale or part exchange.

Vehicle sales executives are required to be professional, have a sharp personal appearance and be excellent communicators. It is also important they are confident with numbers and the financial aspects of sales.

Salaries start at around £10,000  and can increase to around £50,000. They also have the opportunity to earn bonuses and commission depending on whether they reach sales targets.
